Data collection directly at the accident site

The VUFO team records and analyses around 1,000 road accidents with personal injury in the greater Dresden area every year as part of the GIDAS accident research project. Traditional accident recording is constantly being supplemented by modern data collection methods in order to obtain valid data to further increase the safety of road users. Data analysis and road safety

The data analysts at VUFO carry out studies and analyses based on national and international data, mainly focusing on vehicle and road safety. The results are then incorporated into legislation, guidelines, further developments of the Vehicle safety (e.g. driver assistance functions, automated driving) or prevention measures.

The Traffic accident research at the TU Dresden GmbH documents road accidents with personal injury in the greater Dresden area. This accident survey, which is unique in Germany, creates the data basis for the continuous improvement of vehicle and road safety, supports new and further developments in the field of vehicle technology and thus contributes to reducing the number of people injured and killed in accidents.

For our team we are looking for technical accident researcher (m/f/d) with an interest in interdisciplinary work at the interface between technology, medicine and psychology. In addition to basic knowledge in the field of vehicle technology, you also find "future topics" such as driver assistance systems, automated driving or electronic vehicle data exciting.

The Full-time position is from September 2024 and also includes some shift work.

Your area of responsibility:

  • Collection of accident data at the scene of the accident
  • Documentation of details on vehicles involved in accidents
  • Contacting parties involved in the accident and authorities or services at the scene of the accident
  • Transfer of the recorded data to the GIDAS road accident database
  • Collaboration on further interdisciplinary projects

Your requirements:

  • Completed technical vocational training, primarily (but not necessarily) in the automotive industry (automotive mechatronics, mechanics, electrics)
  • Conscientious, quality-conscious and solution-orientated way of working
  • Willingness to work shifts and directly at the accident site
  • Car driving licence with sufficient driving experience and without probationary period
  • PC skills in standard applications

We offer you the opportunity to be part of a motivated team with flat hierarchies. Flexible working hours outside of shifts, a comprehensive induction programme, regular further training and good workplace equipment are a matter of course for us.

The position is initially limited in time until 31 December 2025 for project-related reasons, with the aim of subsequently making it permanent.

Further training & seminars

Road accident research & road safety

We regularly offer training and further training in the areas of data acquisition, reconstruction, data analysis and simulation of road accidents.

We are pleased to have been working with the GTÜ Academy and CTS in the field of further training for experts since 2024. By including our modules in the GTÜ portal, they will be made accessible to a large group of experts. In addition, our speakers will support selected GTÜ training programmes. A new format in the field of accident reconstruction will celebrate its premiere in 2024.
