Goodyear-Dunlop Workshop in Grevenbroich

On 6th of November of 2014 the annual „Goodyear Dunlop winter tire workshop“ was held in Grevenbroich. The mission statement was “wet grip of winter tires”. In addition to this there were some expert lectures and driving demonstrations on the program.

One of the experts was Dr.-Ing. Lars Hannawald, managing-director of VUFO. He spoke about the subject “analysis of real accident data on accidents in winter". He explained that, despite of using winter tires in the period from October to April, there were almost twice as many accidents with cars on wet roads as during the summer months. 81 % of these are caused by less contact with the surface of the wet road. "This high proportion reflects the great importance of the wet grip of tires to reduce the risk of injuries" says Lars Hannawald.

For this reason Goodyear Dunlop took the event as an opportunity to present its new Ultra -Grip 9. This tire is not only good in snow-braking, -handling and -traction characteristics, but also have good handling characteristics on wet and dry roads and improved rolling resistance compared to the predecessor model.

In a wet braking test, the participants had the chance to compare the wet braking performance of the new Ultra Grip 9 with an old mix of Ultra Grip 9.
