Our review of the accident year 2023 and much more.

Editorial

Dear readers,

The end of the year is approaching – which means it’s time to take stock again. In view of the unabated war in Ukraine, the escalation in Israel and issues such as high inflation, rising energy costs, unregulated migration, a shortage of skilled workers and many other crises large and small, the outlook for 2023 is probably not overly positive for some people.

And yet – especially in our domain of road safety – we also find cause for optimism. For example, the number of fatalities in Germany continues to fall slightly, progress is being made in automated driving and the traffic turnaround is picking up speed. We are also very pleased that our GIDAS project has been running at three locations in Germany since July 2023 for the first time in its almost 25-year history and that many aspects have been conceptually revised as part of “GIDAS 4.0”.

We hope that 2023 ends on a positive note for you too and that we can start the new year with hope and optimism. We wish everyone a peaceful Christmas season, moments of rest and relaxation and plenty of time for family and friends!

We would like to combine our Christmas wishes with heartfelt thanks to all our partners, customers, authorities and service providers with whom we have enjoyed a successful and trusting working relationship this year. Stay healthy and have a good start to the new year 2024!

Best wishes from Dresden, on behalf of the entire VUFO team, to
Johann Ziegler, Thomas Unger and Henrik Liers
